VN service disables 'Ok Google' hotword detection #22

When the VN service is enabled on my Nexus 5, Google search 'Ok Google' hotword detection no longer works. 'Hotword detection' is still enabled in the settings, but the search bar mic turns hollow and detection no longer works. Disabling the VN service fixes the issue.

This was recently fixed (or worked around) in commit f442f767c4a865f23597e43956ef28f7d9d8aef5 and will be in the next release.
