In my experience, I have uploaded an image and seem to only end up with 4 notes available in the image after it has been processed or quantized...

In the code, I am looking for a way to adjust the RGB to HSL so that I end up with more available notes...

Also, is there code where the quantized image can be auto-read from... say... the top-left in rows or other way to allow the code to auto-read or auto-compose the notes from the image like a record player or compact disc?

Also, how in the code could the frequency base be adjusted for like 432 instead of 440 or other variations like Microtonal (just intonation) style?

those are the most important questions...

note: I have studied words my whole life (56 years) and have found the 12 notes... the 4 sets of 3 notes... and that is what led me to finding your project... thank you for any help... glad to pay...

Me and my friend Giulio made the project for an exam 3 years ago so I’ll try to remember as much as I can :). You uploaded the image in our application ending up with only 4 colors? Have you tried different images? Maybe the image you uploaded is composed by 4 main colors. The app should lead to 12 equally distributed range of colors but maybe there’s a problem with the quantization function..I’ll look into it.

We didn’t do the “auto-play” feature of the application because we didn’t have time but it surely is a fun and doable improvement of the project!

For the adjustment of the base frequency (440,432,..) I think that’s doable too. I remember that somewhere in the code we defined the frequencies of the notes that build the chords. It could be interesting to implement a slider that give the user the opportunity to select the base frequency, adjusting automatically the frequencies of all the notes.

I don’t understand what you mean by “I’ve found the 12 notes, the 4 sets of 3 notes”.

Today and in the weekend I’m busy but I can look into the code better on Monday.

To clarify... the image uploaded had many colors... yet, I could only find 4 notes in the quantized version...

I tried several images and all of them seem to only have 3 or 4 different notes in them after quantization...

About the 12 notes... so, most people work with the 8 notes of DO RE MI FA SO LA TI DO (6 + 2 DO notes)...

Just wanted you to know why I found your project...
