Maybe we should change to --with-quantum-depth=8 - any thoughts?

--with-quantum-depth=8 did not do a lot of difference in our case compared to the default 16. Have you found noticeable performance wins with 8 bits?

I moved to alpine where we don't have these issues anymore.
