All our installers have been tested against Pi-Top and allowed/disallowed accordingly. Those not allowed are those implementing I2S for audio purposes. This is because I have no idea how the add-on speaker Pi-Top sells communicates with the Pi. If you can send me, or @Gadgetoid, one of those speaker add-on we can look into it and eventually roll out support if we're happy about this integration.
That said Picade is a very special HAT and opening it up to anything but RetroPie is not something I would do lightly. In fact we even debated opening it up for vanilla Raspbian, as the purpose of our OLI is to get everything working out of the box, which wouldn't be the case with vanilla Raspbian (when EmulationStation cannot be detected).
As the main developer responsible for pi-topOS, I can confirm that it is Raspbian under-the-hood, and this scripts works just fine with it. It would be nice for users to be able to use this script directly rather than having to modify it to make it run on a platform that will support it.
