JMAP support #266

Open WhyNotHugo opened 9 years ago

WhyNotHugo commented 9 years ago

Given that we all hope WebDAV dies, I'd like to add JMAP to the table as an alternative.

JMAP does several things, email, contacts and calendars. We'd only care about the last two.

My schedules in the near future don't allow me to pick this up, so I'll just wishlist it. I'll get back when/if I have time to work on it.
Please let me know if there's something that makes JMAP unacceptable.

It doesn't use VCard or iCalendar, so a JMAP-storage-type would have to include a translation layer for the datastructuresformat it uses.

Apparently there have been some efforts to make Thunderbird support JMAP: https://www.google-melange.com/gsoc/project/details/google/gsoc2015/sshagarwal/5733935958982656

In principle I'd accept a PR adding a JMAP backend, but I don't want to keep an issue lingering around if nobody is going to work on it.

Nevermind, I'll reopen. I'm unsure on how to handle items tagged with wishlist.
