And won't reappear despite rejailbreaking. Probably fixable by bootstrapping again?

Edit: after checking /private/preboot/jb it appears it's gone?

Running "bootstrap" in iDownload again solves the issue. Seems preboot isn't always persistent on restart so I suggest leaving your iPhone powered on or carrying around a portable Mac computer where you can run iDownload on the go in the event you need to bootstrap again.
