Updating documentation. #21

Converting README to Markdown format. Updating version to 0.4.1.

In order to produce a nice README on PyPi, publishing this release requires installation of pandoc (brew install pandoc) and pypandoc (pip install pypandoc) in the virtualenv used for publishing.
