Alpha 21 With shaders on only background visible no planets, ship model #1193

With shaders on I only see the starry background, and the planets etc. are missing.

When I switch shaders off the planets and ship models, buildings etc. appear.

I am using a HP Elitebook 2540p laptop with Intel(R) HD graphics, running at 1280 x 800. Changing the resolution didn't have an effect.

If you need any more information please let me know.

Please find the opengl.txt in your Documents/Pioneer folder and post its contents.

My early guess: one or more of the shaders fails to compile and Pioneer is left in this weird half-shader mode ;) Can you also post stdout.txt and stderr.txt from your documents/pioneer folder, they might have error messages.

Hi @deadendgalaxy, don't you have set AA on driver level to 1x value? In case you do, and the game requires 2x to run, the problem might be that drivers don't allow it to change the value. In that case, you may want to try to set either 2x on driver level or set it to allow the application pick the AA level itself. If that doesn't help - does stderr.txt contain that error report even when you run the game with shaders turned off? You may want to delete the content of stderr.txt, save it blank (I don't know if game rewrites every time you start, or appends) and test with shaders off. If the error is still reported, it seems to be unrelated to described graphical glitch. Another possibility is that the graphics card in your notebook does not support AA higher than (according to the error report) 1x.

PS: I hope it doesn't matter that I am not currently a Pioneer developer. I'm just trying to help.

This was a long time ago, please reopen if problem persists (now at a27).
