On my system (Fedora 16 x86_64) I get:

vdr: [8566] ERROR: /usr/lib64/vdr/libvdr-xvdr.so.1.7.22: undefined symbol: compress2

when I try to start vdr. "-lz" is needed for compiler to work properly.
