your logfile "node.lo.zip' shows that the outdated node binary is 1.0.1 running, please name the folder %appdata%\roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet to pirl-nautilus-wallet.old then download and install https://github.com/pirl/nautilus/releases

zueshound commented 6 years ago

thanks for the timely response .been under the weather for the last few days . sorry but not clear on the answer as I don't have much experience in this area. just to get it straight for myself . I am to rename the "node.log" file "%appdata%\roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet to pirl-nautilus-wallet.old" then download and install link provided

RadeonHero commented 6 years ago

You should rename the whole folder blah-blah\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet When the new version of the wallet starts and downloads what it needs, it can take some time for the sync to start, I had to wait about 5 mins.

zueshound commented 6 years ago

ok thanks for the clarity . will try as soon as i can !

thanks again

so renamed the pirl nautilus wallet folder to pirl-nautilus-wallet.old and still will not update the wallet . downloaded the new version Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet-0.9.2-win.zip and it says it connects to peers but will do nothing more except continue the count up of blocks that are not being updated to wallet should I have downloaded Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet-0.9.2-ia32-win.zip instead ?

zueshound commented 6 years ago

would still like to fix my pirl wallet . any help would be great !

the ia32 is only if your using a 32 bit operating system. it seems like maybe your still not getting the latest node or maybe have a lot of nat happening ( i have seen for instance in hotels over a vpn sometimes unable to find peers) but your saying your finding peers and it is halting the updates, which would only happen with the old node.

lets go nuclear.

  1. close wallet (be sure not instances of pirl or nautilus exists in task manager)
  2. (make sure your time is correct, you can ntp update to time.windows.com if needed)
  3. rename %AppData%\Roaming\Pirl to Pirl.old
  4. rename %AppData%\Roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet to Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet.old this will remove the only two places where the chains data is supposed to be stored. if yours is stored somewhere else due to OS customisation then find where its storing the chain data and remove it, or rename it (keep any keystore folders).

at this point you can run ( make sure your running the 0.9.2 wallet) the wallet, it will show a screen saying "updating node" then it will sync blocks.

the "node" it downloads is downloaded to %AppData%\Roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet\binaries\pirl\unpacked\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64

this is the executable that is run in the background that the wallet connects to for your chain data locally.

if this still does not work, i recommend coming into our discord and working directly with chrisno the wallet dev. We have a lot of people ready to help anyone who wants it, but primarily are in chat.

thanks for the breakdown . but still not working . renamed the folders you indicated (i'm pretty sure anyway) .and redownloaded the new version of pirl wallet ,but having the same issue where it says its connected to node and peers but will not update any blocks . number of peers goes up and down and blocks to be downloaded continues to climb . i let it run for 15 min or so to see if will start updating wallet .but it does not . i'm at a loss

hmm, what happens when you run the node without the wallet. bring up cmd with start -> command then type AppData\Roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet\binaries\pirl\unpacked\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64.exe

this runs the node manually in the foreground, what does it say when you do this? for instance mine says

all I get is ( system cannot find path specified ) when running AppData\Roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet\binaries\pirl\unpacked\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64.exe in the command prompt

phatblinkie commented 6 years ago

hmm, that is where your new binary should have been downloaded to when you renamed, then restarted the wallet. is there anything in that directory? or the parent directory?. you can also find me in discord and i can maybe get you fixed faster then on here. also, you can use the web wallet if needed to do most things until your local wallet issue is resolved. the web wallet is https://wallet.pirl.io

also, the path might be %AppData%\Roaming\Pirl-Nautilus-Wallet\binaries\pirl\unpacked\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64\pirl-windows-4.0-amd64.exe

zueshound commented 6 years ago

if we can use discord to communicate and try to solve this problem with wallet that would be great ! I'm at https://discord.gg/jndHznH we may have to find a time when we both have a little free time . after 9:00 pm any night good for me or just let me know . Thanks Dylan

I found out that I can get my wallet to launch after running pirl core from https://github.com/pirl/pirl/releases . As of today it's 1.8.1.1 version. Wait for Pirl Core to repair headers, exit it. Then launch wallet. Thing is, after exiting wallet I get same error as before. Have to launch Pirl Core again
