Well at least cross-testing all those versions of Firefox with all those versions of SecondSearch and then posting my findings here was not a total waste of time.
This doesn't happen for me on Ubuntu, Firefox 44, and Second Search (latest development build).
I updated to Firefox 44 and now Second Search doesn't seem to work at all. Before updating I was able to make Second Search work by disabling the " browser.search.showOneOffButtons" option in "about:config" but since this option has been removed in FF 4x, Second Search doesn't work at all.
I tried with Windows 10 with FF 44 and the latest master build, the latest nightly build and the latest development build. I tried a fresh FF install with a fresh new profile. Heck, I even installed Ubuntu and FF44 with a fresh new profile, no other extension and I get the exact same result
edit : after a quick search it seems that I am not the only one having difficulties with Second Search
This feature has not worked for me since Firefox 32, no matter the version of Second Search used (I tried them all).
Let's pretend I want to search something about Edward Norton. What I was used to be able to do was to type "EDW", then Firefox would suggest a bunch of things starting with "EDW", all I had to do was then to click on what I wanted to search and that was it. Now, and since Firefox 32, if I do the exact same thing, clicking on a suggestion won't work and Firefox will search the term as I typed it without taking the suggestions into consideration If I remove SecondSearch, said suggestions work again.
-Windows 10/Windows 7 -Firefox 32 to Firefox 43.01 -from 0.7.2012031101.1-signed to 1.0.2015122401, also tried the latest master version available and the latest nightly version -I have the same issue on 3 different computers, with brand new profiles on each one
