MuteMe v2.0 RC1 doesn't mute GotoWebinar/GotoMeeting input #30

Hi,

I tried out the MuteMe v2.0 RC1 and while it works ok with all the other apps (like ScreenFlow recorder), it does not mute GotoWebinar microphone input.

So when the GotoWebinar app is running (the downloaded application, not the Web-only UI), I can tap the mute button (on touch bar or the menu item) and the icon turns red very briefly and immediately back to original, showing that the audio channel is actually not muted (I have also verified this by talking and people on the other end still hear me). MuteMe v1.2 at the same time works ok.

So whenever Gotowebinar is running, it seems that it constantly controls that lower level setting that you're also using in v2 - effectively unmuting the channel right after I've used the MuteMe button. I have noticed that GotoWebinar also sometims changes the input audio level dynamically (like Webex etc).

The easiest way to reproduce/test this is to launch the GotoWebinar test session (no need to login, but need to download their app) and tap the mute button:

Thanks, Tanel.

Hi, @tanelpoder Thank you for the detailed issue report. I have written to LogMeIn community forum (https://community.logmein.com/t5/GoToMeeting-Discussions/MuteMe-compatibility/m-p/199865#M22553) and hope to get an answer from their engineers. Let's wait for a few days.

@tanelpoder Unfortunately, GoToMeeting not interested to solve this issue. Please write to them in discussion that you have this problem too. Maybe if more customers say them about this problem they will fix it.

Ok thanks for the info. I'll reply there.

Yeah, looks like no luck at the LogMeIn forum. MuteMe 1.2 actually does what I want, with a single issue that I have - would love to either store & revert to the previous input volume setting, or at least be able to revert back to say 50% or 75% input volume (as 100% is typically too much for my use and GotoMeeting ends up tuning it down anyway). I thought to quickly edit the applescript file and recompile from source, but the recompile quickly got complicated (with all apple dependency and Xcode project/certificate errors) so I gave up. Any chance to have a v1.2.1 or something (in addition to v2) that would not set the mic volume back to 100% but either to the previous input volume before muting or to a preset "hardcoded" value in a config file plist that I could change? (Whatever would be easier)

Thanks, Tanel.

hi @tanelpoder, we will provide for you the version 1.2 with the fixed bug you described next week.

tanelpoder commented 5 years ago

This would be awesome, thanks!

We are happy to announce that we released the new version of the app which currently we distribute as a separate application https://mutify.app/. It should work correctly even in GoWebinar app.

You can try it for free with 7-days trial, get 50% discount with promo code: MUTEME

However, the existing opensource version will stay forever free.

tanelpoder commented 5 years ago

Will try it out - thanks!

The new app is very cool. Works with Gotowebinar too - and the little mic volume panel (cmd+option+9) is useful for me too - it stays on top of MS Powerpoint presenter view on my 2nd display even when presenting in full screen. Will buy, thanks.
