Compression before upload to backend? #50

Open gigq opened 1 year ago

I'm trying to use this service on my own self hosted backend and have it save originals in their full filesize. From what I can tell the mobile app seems to do compression on the file before uploading it to the backend. Can you verify if this is the case? If so would it be possible to have an option to disable this behavior? Thanks.

I'll say the situation has improved greatly with 1.0.0.20; the forced crop/zoom is now optional.

However, the core of this issue still stands. When I upload a picture, it gets recompressed and looks significantly worse than my local copy. I uploaded, downloaded the image from my post, and compared in my gallery app. It looks like a 15% reduction in quality.

I take nature photos and this makes them look unnecessarily worse, I'd like to share these for plant documentation & research purposes. As things stand now, this isn't suitable for that.

I noticed this tonight as well. After I uploaded an image and published it I noticed the colors were desaturated.
