Posts with Farsi/Arabic hashtags are not delivered to federated inboxes #5104

If a post in Pixelfed has a hashtag in Farsi/Arabic (and maybe other languages), the post is not shown on Mastodon. It probably has some kind of federation issue.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Post a photo with a hashtag like: #پیکسلفد
  2. It's not shown on Mastodon.

I have the same problem and every time I publish a post, I have to edit or boost the post to federate successfully.

You mean on the server? I'm not the admin but I guess it's not server related.

I have seen this problem too on pixelfed.de instance. The post gets published on pixelfed just fine but won't be shown on Mastodon.

I just checked an old post of mine on pixelfed.social and I see no problem in hashtags when I search it on mastodon.

The problem seems to be with new posts since they don't be shown on the timeline, but they are accessible via direct link.

There's no issues with posts itself. The issue is that new posts won't be shown on other servers when they're published, unless you directly search their link.

Sometime federation takes time. I see this for PeerTube content too. I should edit some of my photos and upload a new post to verify the issue on my instance (pixelfed.social).
