Since this issue is open, I've noticed many performance issues on projects that render a preview list of hundreds of fonts inside a select:

For this use-case, I suggest sticking with the standard select and plain text list.

@vladolaru @razwan I will close this issue, and we will focus on preview only for Font Palettes and for a limited number of fonts (eg. Staff Picks).
