Could not connect to device error #7

I'm running macOS Catalina 10.15.2.

When trying to sideload an IPA, this happens:

I couldn't find a guide on how to use this, so it might very well be I've missed something. This is what I did:

  1. Installed AltDeploy
  2. Entered AppleID credentials
  3. Installed Mail plugin
  4. Connected my iPad
  5. Start the process

I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with your side but have you tried installing or start AltServer as well?

If this helps (how I did it):

  1. Start AltServer
  2. Open Mail
  3. Open Finder > Locations > Your Device Name > "Trust Device"
  4. Start AltDeploy
  5. Enter AppleID credentials > Save
  6. Start installation process

In step 3, you should see this:

Same issue here. OS10.14.6 iOS 9.0.2

Mail plugin installed and running. Also tried AltServer as above, but same issue.

Thanks a lot @taronaeo, it worked! The step that I was missing was the "Trust device" in Finder (it used to be in iTunes, I think). I actually didn't use AltServer, at all.

I think the repo could do with step by step instructions in the README, I'll leave this issue open and leave it to @pixelomer to close.

My device doesn't appear in Finder.... could be why potentially?

stassinari commented 4 years ago

That's quite likely, yes. I think before it appears, you might have to unlock it?

These are the official instructions from the Apple website.

I am actually on 10.14 - so don't get this option as default or to unlock it as I still have iTunes. The device is already trusted by the computer. Just tried with a device on 12.4.3 and it gets to the install stage fine, so perhaps an AltDeploy incompatibility with 9.0.2

It's probably a different issue than the one I had then 😄

If your device does not show up in Finder, it could be one of two things.

  1. Your "Trust" button might still be located in iTunes itself. Try opening iTunes, unlocking your iPhone and see if any prompt pops up -- sometimes it might take a few minutes for it to show (based on my experience); or
  2. The device is not recognized by the system yet. Have you tried resetting the Trust yet? (Settings > General > Reset > Reset Location & Privacy)

If you still encounter the issue, please try to provide some details :D

Glad I solved your problem! 😃. Maybe I'll fork the repo and include a README instructions guide for people who are lost -- since this news broke out days ago only.
