The Teams thought there were a lot of buttons here, and some of them had smaller phones. They asked if the Victim detected & Victim confirmed could be one button for Victim and when it’s selected they’d choose detected or confirmed. They also asked if the same could be done for the 3 buttons for H.R. What do y’all think? "
Response: This is a great idea from a usability standpoint and I agree with them. But this would deviate from the standard data model that the National System uses because it would require collapsing three existing waypoints into one and then having the type be in another field. In the long run it might actually be more confusing because on the backend you need to look in two columns to know what you are looking at and symbolizing would be challenging. My guess is the Teams out in the field haven’t been through any of the standard wide area search training (which pre-dates our use of ArcGIS), otherwise the icons would have made more sense to them. More training will help! We’ve added this to GitHub for future consideration. Someday we will do a data model roundup as there are other improvements we can make, but that will require changing so many training materials, there would be a revolution if we just change it on our own.
