Bummer.
I know the arblest is a DFHack add-on, so this is possibly something to coordinate with the author. I haven't checked to see if it's part of the DFHack core or otherwise.
In the meantime, documenting what bugs we do know exist seems wise.
Is it though? All I see referencing dfhack are the announcements, the rest looks to be a temporary transformation to a 'gunner' creature?
It looks like you're right. :) I was thinking about a completely different siege engine feature.
The manual states that the arbalest supposedly can shoot through fortifications, but this isn't the case.
The arbalest requires bolts as ammunition, but the speciality bolts (piercing, breadhead, hammerhead) aren't considered bolts. However the reaction will be still be queued, it will fail/cancel and you'll have a dwarf stuck somewhere (cancellation of the job causes the dwarf to transform?) for 1/2/3 months in an 'arbalest operator' state doing nothing.
In my testing it also seemed to have problems identifying reanimated creatures as hostile and wouldn't shoot at them.
