Release 1.0.0 !!!

Description

I think we're finally ready to tick this over to the release version.

This has a lot of altered files: mostly because I ran the Black formatter through the code and the tests.

Please note that if / when this PR lands, we should tag it, and then begin the process of pypi upload, etc.

How Has This Been Tested?

Types of changes

Although all of these things are different between the 0.x versions and 1.0:

• Bug fix (non-breaking change which fixes an issue)
• New feature (non-breaking change which adds functionality)
• Breaking change (fix or feature that would cause existing functionality to change)

This particular PR is only documentation changes.
