Addition of a build system generator #5

I suggest to reuse a higher level build system than your current small Make file so that powerful checks for software features will become easier.

Didn't you open the exact same issue with ericfischer/datamaps#8?

This case is a bit different since the Makefile references /home/warmerdam/bld/lib, which is obviously non-portable, but wouldn't it be best to point out these issues rather than repeating a generic message?

I admit that I repeat some feature requests.

The relevant software dependencies can be expressed in the available build systems in various ways. I find that corresponding generator tools can help to cope better with the involved differences, can't they?

Markus, I will take your suggestion under advisement. I've still got a bunch of cleanup before plcompositor is very ready for prime time.

Why did you close this suggestion when you would like to reconsider corresponding software build improvements eventually?

Markus, I have a practice of not keeping long running wishlist issues open in ticketing systems that don't make them particularly easy to hide from the normal ticket view. I am aware of need for a more normal build system, and don't feel having an open ticket on the issue is helpful. I appreciate your suggestion.

Thanks for the clarification of your preferences.

I imagine that the involved issue tracker could eventually help with its attributes "tag/label" and "milestone" to select another build approach a bit later.
