Describe the question

What have you tried that worked? As of right now we are at the beginning stage pertaining to the API integration build on the Planning Center side. We need to know how to get started and what API's to use. We were thinking the Giving and People API's, but wanted to make sure. Is there something else that needs to take place on the Church Office Giving side, or is it just the API build with Planning Center to integrate?

This is the link to our Planning Center Giviing API https://api.planningcenteronline.com/explorer/giving/v2

This is the link to our Planning Center People API https://api.planningcenteronline.com/explorer/people/v2

What have you tried that didn't work? The link below is the error we received from Church Office Giving when we attempted to complete the integration. We know that everything is right on that end but believe the issue is with building out the third-party API integration with Planning Center so that we can connect. The picture in the link below is the error we received from Church Office Giving when we attempted to complete the integration.

Is this the "Church Office Giving" you are talking about? https://www.churchofficegiving.com/

I'm not familiar with that product, and it looks like they have customer support here: https://www.churchofficeonline.com/contact/

Since it is their integration that is having trouble connecting, you should start with their support.

AgapeAlbany commented 6 months ago

Yes. This is the giving integration. We've been told that this may require API. If so, we will need assistance building it properly. Will the link above satisfy this help request?

I'm sorry, I don't understand. From your original issue description:

The link below is the error we received from Church Office Giving when we attempted to complete the integration.

It looks like you are attempting to connect some product to our API. The way that works is internal to that application, and we are not able to see how it is attempting to connect.

We know that everything is right on that end...

Do you have more information about that? All I see in the screenshot is "There was an issue connecting to Planning Center. Please check your settings within Planning Center and try again." This is not a message our system produces. That error is coming from Church Office Giving it seems. If you have further details about that error, we may be able to help. But I suspect you will need to talk to whoever makes that product so they can see what the issue is.

...but believe the issue is with building out the third-party API integration with Planning Center so that we can connect.

This part of the statement confuses me. Can you elaborate on what you mean by this? I would expect "build out the third-party API integration" to mean you are working on coding up an integration yourself -- that you are writing code in some programming language to speak to our API. Is that correct, or do you mean something else?

Sorry I don't know where to start to help here, given the info I have.

I had another thought... are you following a guide provided by Church Office Online? I found this, but it is very old and is not using our current API version. Is there a newer guide you are following?

AgapeAlbany commented 6 months ago

Yes. We are looking at the integration guide from Church Office Online following the steps to the Planning Center integration.

OK, I'm sorry we can't be of more help. You're going to have to talk to Church Office Online. If their developers are having trouble getting the API to connect, then they can contact us here to work through any issues.
