update the manifest file to version 2 #472

For reasons related to the deprecation of version 1 and its implications to 
Chrome extensions, the manifest file should be updated to version 2. This 
includes the manifest format itself and code changes required to meet the 
Content Security Policy.

Differences between version 1 and 2 as well as the support schedule are 
outlined here: http://developer.chrome.com/extensions/manifestVersion.html
