Additional info

Reinstallation of Platformio didn't solve the problem. The problem occurs in all projects that have been newly compiled. For old projects (if not recompiled) the debugger still works.

I can't reproduce this issue. See attached project megaatmega2560.zip

Please ensure that all packages are up to date. You can run pio pkg update command in the project directory or use GUI in PlatformIO IDE for VSCode.
