existing DOI for figures: how to deal with them #66

Open myrmoteras opened 4 years ago

there are a slowly increasing number of journals (e.g. PloseOne) that start to issue DOI for their figures. We need be able to cope with this:

  1. mark the doi in the caption
  2. when submitting the figure to BLR use the existing DOI to create the DOI for the deposit not from new but use the existing one, similar to articles with DOI.

Donat asked us to create a list with journals that issues DOIs for figs (and I'm assuming, tabs as well).

Here it's: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Qm_AZ3Cckv7CVUDBtF1Ydmex7aJp1ztIaYnmwLDdjAg/edit?usp=sharing

Most likely a case for the layout.caption parameter group of the templates ... hard to imagine how we could catch the DOIs with the generic logic, unless you manually correct the captions, simply because in the generic case that DOI could just as well be a page footer (we've seen that as well) ...

gsautter commented 4 years ago

The screenshot actually is an even harder case because the DOI is not even in the vicinity of the caption, but on the far side of the table with a table note in between.

valdenar commented 4 years ago

This is an individual extraction. In this case how should I mark this information?

myrmoteras commented 4 years ago

can you upload the IMF on the google drive?

gsautter commented 4 years ago

@valdenar you can add the DOI to the caption as attribute ID-DOI via "Edit Attributes" in the context menu. Right now, this won't make it to Zenodo, but I'll change that asap.

Donat, here's the IMF: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1jbIwHVfh2xcQ6gNFCrFugK-Yr7EGMnZ4

Guido, I'm not sure if you've access to this folder, if not, @mguidoti will grant you access.
