Now that is truly and utterly weird ... unless you stored the article locally as XML, and didn't select "with IDs", of course, in which case all the elements get new (UU)IDs assigned on loading ...
I'm aware that some edits are more convenient to do in Notepad++, and there's no general problem with that, as long as you keep those annotation (UU)IDs in at all times.

I think I know what happened... I opened a sub-window to edit the treatment and mistakenly saved it in that subwindow.
Earlier today I opened this document https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/summary/A2066AD53F295CD4B278A5D20D4AC010 on GGE, made an edit and saved it.
For some reason, instead of updating the record it created a new one https://tb.plazi.org/GgServer/summary/CDD5B04A30170A80858BA0E42D7D8598
No idea what happened there.
