Larger publications that are processed in sections can not be found easily on TB. E.g. Handbooks of the Mammals of the World Vol. 9, Flora der Schweiz, Order out of Chaos.

From a users point of view, this is important.

is there a way we could provide this access? This would also allow to get stats, such as how many treatments, unique names, or a list of all the taxa included.

@gsautter Perhaps we could use the "series in journal" field to provide a section name/number for such cases? Just thought of that and wanted to share.

Frankly, using "series in journal" on chunks of books feels somewhat wrong to me, to be honest ...

There actually is a good few ways of getting the overall numbers despite the chunking, just not via the source article UUID:

the DOI or Zenodo deposition number of the source document should do the trick for OooC
there is always the metadata to search and group by (which is what most users would most likely do anyway)
for HBMW we also have a file naming scheme

What you're basically asking for is a source document grouping mechanism, which would be a completely new feature and require respective infrastructure.
