plepe / OpenStreetBrowser

An application to ‘browse’ the information in the displayed part of the map. Similar to common Wikis and also the main page of http://www.openstreetmap.org the website shows a narrow menu on the left side, most of the page is used for the display of the map. In contrast to most Wikis the menu is not static, but rather the content of the map can be browsed in categories. For the map a special style has been developed (sorry guys, I neither like the default Mapnik nor Osmarender styles), and special overlays are displayed to support the current browsed categories. When you click on an object (either from the list or directly on the map) informations on this object are displayed.

"More categories" has more spam than useful content.

JesseWeinstein commented 2 years ago

Yeah, it needs a higher barrier to entry; see https://www.openstreetbrowser.org/dev/explore/repos . At a minimum, the existing spam should get hidden/removed.

JesseWeinstein commented 2 years ago

It looks like the earliest spam was about a year ago, and all the ones up till around May 2021 have been removed (although they still show up on the list I mentioned above, but I don't think they show up in "More categories"). It looks like there are about 120 more to remove.

You are right, sorry about not doing something about this earlier. I will look into this issue in the upcoming days.

JesseWeinstein commented 2 years ago

Totally understand -- thank you for the making all this available!

JesseWeinstein commented 2 years ago

Still needs cleaning up. It's not clear if the 120 mentioned in December are still there or not.

plepe commented 2 years ago

Done. Now, only repositories with at least one file are listed.

JesseWeinstein commented 2 years ago

Yep, https://www.openstreetbrowser.org looks clean now -- thank you! I dunno if you want to remove the spam from https://www.openstreetbrowser.org/dev/explore/repos or not.

plepe commented 2 years ago

Yes, I want. Let's see if and when I can find time to do that ...
