Here is a pull request from the cindex branch to make the changes easy to review. This is the branch that David Shrader ran the regression test on (sync'd up to the latest plfs-core master). The branch breaks the indexing path in the container FS out into its own module so that we can experiment with different types of indexes (e.g. ByteRange, MDHIM are current targets).
