New members don't always know Slack (and sometimes other technologies) and the burden falls on project leads to get them caught up. This would give project leads something easy to point to and say, 'Here you go, these are some places where you can get started,' taking some of the emotional labor and prep work out of this for new/old project leads. Especially good for new project leads that don't know they even need to set any of this stuff up.
Yes, perhaps people who don't know these technologies tend to not stick around, but project leads need to treat everyone with respect and make people feel welcome. Telling them to shove off really isn't the right thing to do, and more involved conversations take a lot of emotional labor. This can be a way to respect people while still not doing that emotional labor.
How
Auto new member Slack messages with links to useful tutorials to help new members get started learning these technologies.
I understand, we could come up with a list ourselves. We're already churning out documentation here. It'd be good to have some support for the stuff we're finding harder to do.

Proposal issue made with 'proposal' label and other relevant labels. Was posted to slack (with end date, voting chart, and link to this issue), and post was pinned to the channel.
Note: See guidelines and details about making proposals and the decision-making practices. You can also see other proposals in this repo's issues.
