DECISION: Create collection of good examples of knowledge management #3

Open plocket opened 4 years ago

plocket commented 4 years ago

Why

A goal: Making the knowledge discoverable and clear with a minimum of one-on-one guidance. Groups struggle with how to pass on knowledge effectively as the members of the group change. We don't want to constantly spend time verbally explaining to people, but we do want them to know what they need to know to be productive contributing members.

Examples (and possibly templates for document or folder structures) might help people give people ideas of how to organize the knowledge and what kinds of questions might need to be answered by their documentation.

How

Collect and highlight good team examples of knowledge management (i.e., for now point to resources put together by Migrant Service Map and share around internally).

Should this be related to https://github.com/codeforboston/.github which is the default template for new projects and sponsorship link?

@thadk: In what way do you mean "related"? Do you mean that Migrant Service Map created one document that housed all their documentation and that could be made into a template? That's what a template is, right - one document? Or has something changed about github templates? Alternatively, do you mean that there would be a template holding links to useful PMing resources?

I think #4 might have more suggestions about possibly useful templates, btw.

We could at least link to the Migrant Service Map document from that github template so the document isn't lost.
