Abstract

Ship with TinyMCE 7 in Plone 6.1

Motivation

Copying from https://github.com/plone/Products.CMFPlone/issues/3936:

From https://www.tiny.cloud/docs/tinymce/5/:

TinyMCE 5 reached End of Support in April 2023. No more bug fixes, security updates, or new features will be introduced to TinyMCE 5. We recommend you upgrade to TinyMCE 7 or consider TinyMCE 5 Long Term Support (LTS) if you need more time.

Proposal & Implementation

Update TinyMCE in mockup/plone.staticresources.

Shipped in Plone 6.1.0a3.

This was already done for Plone 6.1 and documented at https://6.docs.plone.org/backend/upgrading/version-specific-migration/upgrade-to-61.html#tinymce-upgraded-in-classic-ui. Is this PLIP an administrative task to make it official?
