Archive / clean up old.plone.org #11

The previous plone site based on Plone 5.1 is still running on old.plone.org on the wicked server.

The plone site has been set up with a version of the plone ansible scripts, but has not and can no longer be updated. Or at least nobody has dared to do it in the last 2.5 years.

We can archive the content database and a tar/snapshot of the current set up before shutting down wicket, but then it would be a lot of guess work if for some reason we would need to get data out of the site.

Cleaning up the buildout/deployment in a repo so that we can set it up locally to retrieve some data on demand is more work, but the safer option imho. I don't think it should be permanently available anymore. Some members of the marketing team have indicated they still look at old.plone.org now and then, but it is more convenience than necessity.

And exporting everything with collective.exportimport so that the data is available? Though having to add c.exportimport might be a problem on its own 😓

I say to just kill it. The usage of other archived/gzipped resources is absolutely minimal, although some of those have solid reasons keeping as an archive, like sourcecode. But this site? No, if people feel nostalgic they can go to the Wayback Machine.
