Comment by suno_ano on 21 Jan 2009 12:59 UTC I agree, promoting is always a good idea. However, I think this should be optional because not all folks running a Plumi site might want it.
The question then is whether it should be enabled or disabled per default? I am not sure yet as to what might be better ...
Has somebody ever tried to create some sort of hook for the buildout that might ask for such things e.g. "Do you want your site to help promote Plumi [y/n]"

Comment by mike on 10 Nov 2010 10:25 UTC we should provide some kind of overlay inside flowplayer with the link back to the plumi site, since we now have a special embed_view. At least for the flowplayer embed. We should check out what's the best thing to do with the html5 embed.

Comment by markos on 23 Feb 2012 14:44 UTC How do you find the attached image's logo (on the right side)?
Comment by anna on 24 Feb 2012 07:27 UTC hey thanks for this.
if we are going to use an image / watermark, then it should be an engagemedia logo.
hmmm.. i think that there is less use for a plumi logo than for a site-specific logo anyway. most sites will want to use their own branding i would imagine.
but considering this as a site-specific logo (sites can substitute plumi logo for their own)....
the youtube way of doing this you can see in image i will attach now..
Comment by markos on 29 Feb 2012 14:11 UTC Ready for testing on www.engagemedia.org
Comment by anna on 1 Mar 2012 06:28 UTC This looks great. I wonder if it would be better still if it was "EngageMedia.org" and then the logo. Could we try this?
I realise it would take up space on the player, but our logo is way less familiar than YouTubes, and YouTube's also has their name in their logo. I think we need a bit more prompting to the user that this is the website it comes from, than just the logo.

Comment by anna on 1 Mar 2012 06:35 UTC here's a test if people want to check it out: http://manifesto.sagaponic.net/?p=43
Comment by markos on 2 Mar 2012 11:57 UTC The solution with the favico.ico works out of the box for plumi installations, since it takes the favico.ico of the site.
If we put something different there, we will have to make a note on the documentation (and floss manual) for other users to change this on their installations.
I tried adding text (Engage Media) and the result is not ideal. If you want another logo to be added there (instead of the favico.ico), then send us the logo, in dimensions that can fit there (height 16 pixel).
Comment by anna on 5 Mar 2012 03:18 UTC here's a new image to try.
it may be a little wide, but it could be ok.
could change this to say "EngageMedia" not "EngageMedia.org", but better how it is if we can get away with the width i think.
Comment by mike on 7 Mar 2012 11:23 UTC Can you check it out on em.org?
Comment by anna on 13 Mar 2012 01:18 UTC looks great. perhaps we can get a different image from our designer, but this is great for now.
Comment by anna on 21 Mar 2012 05:51 UTC the logo apparently covers some of the controls on the video player. unfortunately i'm using my old powerbook at the moment while my laptop is being repaired, so i can't test this (no video playback on ppc mac).
Comment by anna on 22 Mar 2012 06:30 UTC Noting there was a duplicate on Redmine here https://redmine.engagemedia.org/issues/1610
Comment by anna on 27 Mar 2012 07:11 UTC Ok, my laptop is back from repairs and working again (for now) so I have tested this.
The logo no longer covers the controls on the player.
But when the video has fully loaded, the Unisubs menu partially covers the play button and scrub bar. See attached photo.
Comment by anna on 27 Mar 2012 07:15 UTC There are a few other issues with embedding after testing in a few different contexts. I'll list the embed/blog issues here on Trac, and the FB embed issues on Redmine here: https://redmine.engagemedia.org/issues/2792
After the video has loaded and I click play, I get a black bar above the video. See attachment.
BTW I didn't realise the UniSubs came along with the video when it was embedded via the EM embed iFrame. This could be because it takes a very long time to load (another issue to note).
Comment by anna on 27 Mar 2012 07:18 UTC Another issue is that the image takes a very long time to load.
Is there a way of loading resources into the player at different times, and waiting for the image to load before the video does? It's a bit ugly right now. I don't think the image finished loading until after the video did, so you get part of an image loading over time.
See attached.
Comment by anna on 27 Mar 2012 07:21 UTC Another issue is that when I click the Share button on the UniSubs menu, the Unisubs page loads within the frame the video has appeared in.
Fortunately you can still access the Share buttons, but its pretty weird.
See attached.
Comment by anna on 3 Apr 2012 05:46 UTC i have separately ticketed the issue regarding image loading.
so
anything that can be done regarding the UniSubs page loading within the frame the video appears in?
and the black bar above the video? i'm assuming this was your workaround for the logo appearing on top of the video? is it possible to do this differently?
Comment by anna on 4 Apr 2012 01:43 UTC i just tested this again, with different results. does this mean you've been working on it in the last day?
attached is an image of how the player i embedded a week ago now looks (the image and "play" overlay are distorted).
when i press play the video does not appear. the audio can be heard, but the player is blank (white) - so currently any videos using this iframe i assume are not working on people's blogs.
Comment by anna on 4 Apr 2012 02:07 UTC also attached - screen cap from andrew garton of his results (on 27th march) showing different issues - with logo still appearing over video.
you can see this here also on andrew garton's blog: http://www.sarawakgone.cc/bird-man-of-long-banga/
Comment by anna on 6 Apr 2012 07:12 UTC So this seems to be resolved and looking great here: http://www.sarawakgone.cc/bird-man-of-long-banga/
and here: http://manifesto.sagaponic.net/?p=54
But not here: http://indymedia.org.au/2011/03/07/world-naked-bike-day-melbourne-2011
Comment by anna on 6 Apr 2012 07:14 UTC oh, except that here the logo still appears over the video http://www.sarawakgone.cc/bird-man-of-long-banga/
and here there are still black bars top and bottom during the video http://manifesto.sagaponic.net/?p=54
sorry, spoke too soon...
Comment by mike on 10 Apr 2012 12:14 UTC We've updated demo with the latest round of fixes. We're using the favicon for plumi since it is supported by mediaelement js. There seem to be some issues with bigger logos, as we're hacking over the mediaelementjs css and js for it to work. E.g. the em.org logo seems fine on chrome but not on FF. In any case we can continue with those fixes on em.org's redmine.
The share button now opens the link in a new page (feel free to test it on demo, and if it's ok we'll transfer the fix to em.org too).
Comment by anna on 12 Apr 2012 06:15 UTC ok, will post issues re. em.org on redmine.
the plumi favicon looks good on player, except that it probably needs a pixel or so of space on the right-hand side to separate it from the edge of the player.
however the controls show as a layer on top of the video. plus there are small black bars top and bottom.
basically to make it work neatly i guess there should be a taller black bar at the bottom, on which the controls sit. and no black bar on the top. is it possible to align the video correctly to enable this?
Comment by anna on 17 May 2012 14:28 UTC As per ticket on Redmine...
Remaining issues:
Putting this in 4.4 to hopefully have a final tinker!
Comment by anna on 17 May 2012 14:34 UTC Just adding one more to the list...

Reported by anna on 21 Jan 2009 06:06 UTC Moving this back from EngageMedia Trac.
Currently there is no link back to the video/view page in the object/embed tags generated by Flowplayer.
It would be cool to have a little EM logo in the Flowplayer that you could click on, or a text link to take you back to the EM site to the video/view Page.
The easiest would presumably to add a couple of line of HTML under the tag that is generated like this:
We're missing out on promotion and bringing people into the Plumi site's community without some kind of link back.
