Style Search Results #1532

Reported by anna on 6 Nov 2012 01:04 UTC The Search Results page looks a bit messy right now. It does have thumbs for videos, which is great.

Could we, in order of priority:

  1. Re-instate RSS feed (just seems to have disappeared?) using blue RSS button aligned nicely next to "Search results for" heading.
  2. Align title & summary & author tagline for videos (and audio) with top of thumb, not display underneath
  3. Have a line of space between each result item

== FURTHER IMPROVEMENTS ==

  1. Is it possible to group item types within search results? This would be cool - show each group, with up to 10 items per item type, with an ajax MORE link to show more results for each type underneath.

I would just add one line break between the byline/date and the short description

  1. a. if you could horizontally align the RSS image to appear exactly in line with the text below "16 items matching your search terms" that would look better.

  2. b. also if you could vertically align the RSS image with the text "Subscribe to an always-updated RSS feed."

  3. finally regarding the second issue - i mean that there is space where a right column could be on this page - the content does not fill the whole content area space. so you see a darker grey column of emptiness on the right. i think a portlet used to appear here, but has now been removed.

so i mean - make the (lighter grey background) content area with search results fill this whole space, so not to have a strange empty space on the right hand side.

does that make sense?
