MIT License was chosen as opposed to BSD or GPL because it is flexible and straightforward and imposes minimal restrictions on derivative works. But as opposed to licensing under public domain, still offers liability protections against misuse of the package.

In principle, not oppose to a license, but are there any specific considerations that went into picking MIT?
