Pros:

Removes the whole build/release container-image-container-image-container fandango
Probably a decent alternative to slugbuilder / slugrunner
- In fact, now that I think about it, this would let containers run with a lightweight image akin to slugrunner without the tar/untar step

Cons:

Not building images means there's nothing to deploy to clusters (although see note about slugbuilder/slugrunner)
Removes concrete build -> release hierarchy (release can theoretically mess with a build)

Not to be confused with providing the app directory to buildstep as a volume, then copying it and committing the image.
