Our project is mainly for Google Desktop Gadgets
(http://desktop.google.com/plugins/)
while it also supports iGoogle gadgets. You can add desktop gadgets by pressing
the '+'
icon at the top of the sidebar to bring up the gadget browser. The gadget
browser can
also be brought up using the status icon menu.
About iGoogle gadgets, you can first add a "iGoogle gadget" from the gadget
browser,
and then drag the gadget link from your web browser onto the just added gadget,
or use
the option dialog to input the gadget url.

As already acknowledged in another bug thread;
The problem is that the Ubuntu Karmic repositories still have only a version
based on
the 0.10 source release, which does not have the iGoogle feature. Versions from
0.11.0 onwards only have the feature, so I was hunting through the menus in
vain.
Follow bug 351 for updates on how to successfully build and run from source, or
maybe
get .deb packages for a Karmic based
distro...http://code.google.com/p/google-gadgets-for-linux/issues/detail?id=351
