It sounds like Yahoo has dropped their stock quotes API. That forum suggests equitystat.com or https://www.vertex42.com/ExcelTemplates/excel-stock-quotes.html as alternatives.

I signed up for equitystat.com, but they only provide a web interface for a single portfolio - no api for querying stock values.

Following the vertex42 link, I'm led to this answer which indicates that the Google Finance API is also no longer supported, and querying it, I get only stale data. It does point to another service Alpha Vantage, which looks promising, though only US markets.
