(namely see the comment about known bug that I added to the code there.)

(This specific issue is me migrating an issue out of the krabcake-vg repo i.e. https://github.com/pnkfelix/krabcake-vg/issues/7. I do not think I want to track issues in two locations, at least, not yet...)
