Run markdown-file-snippets with doctest instead of byexample (which is more windows- and macOS-compatible)
Run tests for different OS and different python versions
Include the doctests into the test workflow
Fix the readme-formatting-issues implied by the byexample-to-doctest switch
Remove version pin for pytest
