Issue in identifying the opaque surface type #938

Closed weilixu closed 1 year ago

weilixu commented 1 year ago

The opaque surface type is identified based on tilt angle logic in the RCT, however, the logic is oversimplified that could result in many mis-identifications.

In small office case, Attic_Floor_Core is identified as Exterior Floor. However, in EnergyPlus, the Attic_Floor_Core is a reverse surface of the Core_Zn_Ceiling, which is identified as Exterior Roof.

An Exterior Floor and Exterior Roof have different U-factor requirement in the 90.1 Apx G. However, in an energy model, the Attic_Floor_Core and Core_Zn_Ceiling share the same assemblies in a reverse order.

This has discussed with the team member and so far, the team think we should resolve the issues from EnergyPlus and RMD export software.
