DS3622xs+ on baremetal not responding to IP after DSM install #306

Closed GunterO closed 1 year ago

GunterO commented 1 year ago

Describe the bug Using the latest TCRP image 0.9.4.5 from 2023/05/21 18:43 The TCRP build is going well (html), and the installation of DSM 7.2-64551 is going well too (not stuck at 99% anymore). But once it reboots after DSM is installed, there is no response to the IP anymore. Not able to ping either. The IP is fixed to 192.168.1.19 via MAC binding in my router. TCRP Friend is showing the IP correctly (see screenshot), but I can't connect to it, nor ping. When using DS920+ as target, it works. Tried without the "real mac" option, but the machine is not getting a new IP, so can't connect either.

To Reproduce Build via HTML with "real mac", version: 7.2.0-64551 (see attached logfile). Using .pat file downloaded from Synology website to install DSM (DSM_DS3622xs+_64551.pat). Boout TCRP Friend 0.0.5, see screenshot.

Expected behavior Being able to connect to the IP that TCRP is showing.

I see you are using the real mac address, did you try to see if you have lights on LAN card after boot ? Also did you check your router or DHCP server for an IP assignment to this MAC ADDRESS ?

GunterO commented 1 year ago

Yes, the LED's are on/blinking. This is in the ARP table of my router: 192.168.1.19      F8-32-E4-88-5A-FC     SynologyNAS I attached the serial log of the boot if it can help you. 20230522_ds3622xs+_serial.log

EDIT: At the end (of the log), the system is in some kind of a loop. This block seems to be repeating: "NMI watchdog: BUG: soft lockup - CPU#? stuck for 41s!" The ? is any number of available CPU core.

So you've got a KP somewhere down the line then. You can try booting user the GRUB SATA option

GunterO commented 1 year ago

I've tried that, but neither the SATA nor USB option are working. photo_2023-05-22_17-05-06

Just tried with the arpl-i18n loader on my hardware, and it was up and running within 10min. Even latest version DSM 7.2-64561

The NMI watchdog claims on of the modules, my bets though go on RTC_CMOS as it appears right after that :

same issue about uefi, try with legacy, work for me with usb boot. Boot can be until 200sec.

GunterO commented 1 year ago

Thanks, but it is running perfectly with arpl-i18n, and going to stick with that for now.
