Release/1.9.0 #22

Update release/1.9.0 branch from master to add changes previously merged in PR #16

Travis failed again due to build time limits. Please have a look , we need the changes in 1.9.0 version!

I doubt this will happen, release branches are frozen after release and any fixes should go into the next release branch, in this case 1.9.1. @obiltschnig ? sorry, I thought this was pull for poco, not conan

@obiltschnig @aleks-f Could this be merged please? If the changes are not merged to the release/1.9.0 branch the packages are not uploaded. We have a couple of users with fails because of the fPIC. Thanks!
