Episode Cover Image not taken from Asset

Expected behaviour

I always let the cover image for my episodes be taken from the asset:

This works fine for old episodes.

Actual behavior

Today I created a new episode and the cover image is not shown, instead the podcast cover is used

The asset itself is correct and can be found on the server (I double checked – it is a the correct cover image with a photo)

I tried putting the asset setting do a different value (manual import) and then switching back – the old episodes correctly show the asset picture, the new one shows the fallback picture. Anything I missed or did wrong?
