Pods 2.8 - Relationship field -> Simple (custom defined list) "parent output" empty #6189

the relationship field output of an "parent" object of an pod did'nt work anymore.

before i got the field value of e.g.: $pod->display('mypod.field1'); this is now empty and in date field type it returns "0000-00-00" intead of "" (nothing), by trying to acces the field directly with: $other_pod->display('field1'); field value returns correctly...

looks like the acces to the Relationship field of an related pods did not work. hope someone understand.

Can you export your Pods package that has your two pods in it?

sry, what do you mean with "export pods package"?

lets say i have a pod "user" and another one is "shop", user is related (Relationship (Bi-directional Field)) to shop... now shop has "delivery_methods" (Relationship field -> Simple (custom defined list)), delivery methods are e.g. "local_pickup" and "delivery" (single select) ... so now when a want return or echo $user->display('shop.delivery_methods'); did'nt work, but $shop->display('delivery_methods'); works. but looks like only relationship fields are affected with this issue(?).

To export Pods package goto Pods Admin->Components and make sure 'Migrate Packages' component is enabled. Then use that to export a package with your two pods in it.

Though it looks like your description now has enough detail to try to reproduce it would be easier to use your exact setup to reproduce in case there is a specific issue with one of the fields you are using.

and also here:

$beginn = $pod->display('produktion.urlaub_beginn'); $ende = $pod->display('produktion.urlaub_ende'); both return "0000-00-00" instead of "" (nothing, because fields are empty)

Edit: I believe I see the behavior now. If I have the relationship in the user pod go to a valid item but that does not have the date field filled in it returns '0000-00-00' on 2.8 but '' on 2.7.31.

Is the problem only with date fields?

there is the issue:

I have noticed that since today the fields that I had previously left empty have been automatically filled with a 0 (zero), which represents a problem because I have defined behaviors based on empty or filled fields. But I think this is something from Wordpress ...

not only with the date fields, also the relationship fields (simple custom list) like i said in the topic of this issue. in 2.7.31 $ausgabe = $pod->display('produktion.ausgabeart'); works but in 2.8. this did'nt work and i got no output.

with the date fields i have also some behaviors where i check if the fields are empty or filled - like @kschaerer wrote above

please don't be confused... i have backup to version 2.7.31 where all was working (so u see the "old UI")

The original issue reported here for simple defined list not outputting correctly on traversal has been solved as part of https://github.com/pods-framework/pods/issues/6191 in Pods 2.8.1

I believe a few other things were mentioned here like the empty/non-empty value handling for dates? Can we get a new bug created the describes that in more detail including information like if the data has been saved since the upgrade to Pods 2.8.x or if the data started returning 0 and 0000-00-00 etc even though the data stored in the database is empty/not set?

Simple List is working fine with 2.8.1.
