Error loading ROM (from SD)

Since version 3.0.9 several ROMs are giving me error when trying to load 
them. The error I get says 'Error opening archive' and if I cancel then I 
get the message 'Error loading ROM'. This doesn't happen with all ROMs, 
but with many. Some of them are:

1943 Battle of Midway (U)
Bases Loaded 3 (U)
Bases Loaded 4 (U)
Maniac Mansion (U)
Werewolf (U)

This is different from issue 192, since I am loading them directly from 
the SD. It is not an SD issue since they load perfectly from the SD with 
version 3.0.8, and the ROMs also load fine from the SD on the PC. 

If I keep trying to load them, they eventually load after 2-5 attempts, 
but I keep getting the error until the game loads. This error was 
introduced in version 3.0.9, hence I had to downgrade back to 3.0.8.
