Problems when loading DVD with lots of roms #208

Closed GoogleCodeExporter closed 9 years ago

GoogleCodeExporter commented 9 years ago
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1.Burn a DVD-R with, 1,000+ roms (I burned the entire GoodNES collection)
2.Insert the DVD in your wii
3.Go to the screen where you chose the Rom.

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?
it should just load normally, but for 10-30 seconds the wii just freaks out
and has weird artifacts all over the screen, sometimes the remote vibrates
for however long the wii is frozen.

Does this issue occur on FCE Ultra for Windows?
n/a

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?
latest version on the wii

Are you using the official build (from the downloads page or auto-update)?
yes

Please provide any additional information below.
Not sure, but maybe this is a memory problem? It happens every time you go
to the screen, even after returning there from a game.

I dont know if this might be a memory problem, a hardware limitation or if it
can
just be fixed by sofware.

However, have you tried splitting your full compilation of the GoodNES ROMs
among
subfolders to see if the same issue occurs? You know, you can create folders A,
B,
C, D, E... etc and place the roms starting with that letter on each.

That might help you not having to wait 30 secs everytime you open the list.

What's strange is that the DVD drive isn't spinning while the wii is frozen.
I'll try the subfolder idea and
see what happens.

I'm curious about knowing your results trying the subfolders idea. Did the emu
keep
freezing?

Well sorry for taking so long but I am right now burning the DVD with
subfolders...
My graphics card was fried on my computer so I had to get a new one before I
could
try this.
