Saves won't load #212

What steps will reproduce the problem?
I had been slowly playing Zelda 2 and I had a save file that had worked
fine under the previous version (up through 3.0.9), but when I went to use
it after updating, it just booted me up to the opening screen of the game.
So yeah I was upset, but I figured I'd start over. Played a bit, saved it,
went back to it this morning and once again back to the opening screen...

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

The sram should bring me to the point where I saved. Instead it's as if I
didn't play at all.

Does this issue occur on FCE Ultra for Windows?
Not a clue.

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?
Wii.

Are you using the official build (from the downloads page or auto-update)?
auto-update.

Please provide any additional information below.

same happened to me, only with the first zelda.(after upgrade from 3.0.9 to
3.1.0)

It doesnt crash, it just doesnt do anything i click on it. it flickers (split
second)
as if something is going to happen but refuses to load. i am able to create new
saves
but the old ones dont work.
I have a pal wii, screen set to 420p, rom is US, auto update version.
Additionally i tried fooling around with emulator video settings to no avail

With RAM saves on Zelda, you'll have to make sure the save actually happens in
game.
So load up an older version, load your old state, and make sure the battery ram
is
saved. For Zelda 1, for example, that means dying and then pressing Save in the
game. Then the RAM data is actually updated. That's what I did to keep my Zelda
progress.

Unfortunately State saves from older releases were corrupted slightly - they
can't
be used in newer releases.
