sd card for roms + emu = wierd results #258

Reading from front SD card (both emu + roms)

Creating the correct file structure;
Ie apps/fceugx/ for emu and fceugx/roms (and fceugx/saves)

Everytime I load it gets to the directory screen and shows as "unable to
load X/ROMS" (fce and snes9x have the same issue).
I've tried manually searching the folders to no avail they still cant open.
When it does get to a folder just by trying it comes up with gibberish!

HOWEVER I've come up with a read-only work around for the moment.

When it shows 'unable to open' I simply pop out the sd card, then click
'retry' (it either says 'unable to locate sd card' or goes back to the
directory list) then I pop the card back in and it loads the folders fine
(also the rom).

The problem is (aside from the tedium of popping the sd card in and out
like a nes cartridge) it will not save any state/rom/settings to the card,
it simply rejects saying 'unable to locate fceugx/saves' which of course is
there...

Possible patch? Or impossible to fix {don't think that's the case as I
figured out a hardware work around..

Does this issue occur on FCE Ultra for Windows?

What version are you using? On GameCube or Wii?

Are you using the official build (from the downloads page or auto-update)?

Please provide any additional information below.

Sounds like your SD card is a little scrambled or failing! Try running a chkdsk
and
then reformatting.

Yes, more I think about it this is a problem with your card.

Yeah but tbh I thought of that first and checked the card over and over for
faulty
sectors etc (chkdsk in dos is lush!)

anyways, found possible cause!
I'm using a MicroSD converter (ie its a SD card with a Micro SD slot) :)

Cause the memory tested fine and dandy. Might be a possible bug with that.
Seriously
can't believe I didn't notice that -_-;;

problem located with hardware! {possibly useful FAQ for all n00bs {me too)

If you have a converter it turns it into a 'read only' SD card.

That's the problem and cause of the errors (it's also the only difference) :)

Now to tinker on that ;) as they were out of stock of sd cards today....

Also n00b moment. The lock was set to read only.... Didn't notice they had
those o_O
haven't seen that since the floppy disk age!

nope still the same read error...

Chdsk shows no sd card fault on the memory. Its FAT and can read.
It's able to save to the card (now the little switch is set).

Wierd. Especially when it works if you pop out the card at the point of error,
click
retry, pop it back in, then works fine. everytime...

Will have to get a normal sd and see if issue remains
