A short video would be nice (fyi, this could be something that is embedded in the About page) #40

YouTube will do automatic translation of captions unless you turn them off. I could not find any automatic dubbing directly through YouTube. There are a host of services that claim to do this separately though, and YouTube does allow you to upload separate audio tracks for different languages.

Tell us how you would spend a portion of our city budget to benefit your community. You can click any of the "Suggest an Idea" buttons to get started.

Location

Start off by telling us whether your idea is citywide and doesn't relate to any particular place, or if it is specific to a park, school, neighborhood, or any other place in the city.

If your idea is location specific, then select the location either by dragging and zooming the map, or by using the location search box at the top of the map to search for an address or the name of a place.

Description

Next, tell us what your idea is about. Be descriptive, but brief. As a rule of thumb, use fewer than 50 words to describe your idea.

Social and Racial Equity

If you feel that your idea advances social and racial equity in Boston, please tell us how. We define social and racial equity as the just and fair inclusion of people of any social and racial background into society, so they can participate, prosper, and reach their full potential.

Category

Next, choose a category for your idea. We have nine category options for you to choose from. Or, if your idea doesn't fit into any of those nine, you can choose "Other or Not Sure". Hovering over a category will give you a brief description of what kind of ideas fit into that category.

Submitting at an Event

Next, let us know whether you're submitting the idea as part of an event sponsored by the city or by a community organization. If you are not submitting your idea as part of any event, you can specify that here as well.

Personal Information

After you've described your idea, tell us a little about yourself. This helps us better understand where and who ideas are coming from in the city. At least let us know your name and what neighborhood you live in, but your zip code, email address, and which of our supported languages you prefer to speak will help us as well.

Please don't forget to let us know how you want your name to be displayed for your Boston neighbors to see next to your idea.

Submit!

Finally, submit your idea and be sure to sign up for updates as the participatory budgeting cycle progresses.
